Wrestling Rumour Mill: Week Ending December 8th, 2018

It’s been a busy week for professional wrestling news, and let’s take a look as some unverified rumors in this new weekly feature.

The Rock’s Scrapped Wrestlemania 35 Plans

The Rock’s return to the WWE has been rumored off and on throughout the year. Their was whispers of him possibly appearing at Smackdown 1000, and with that event having nothing more than a congratulions tweet from The Great One, it makes one think whether we will see Mr. Johnson back in the WWE in 2019.

Wrestlevotes commented today on original plans for The Rock to win the Royal Rumble and face Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania 35. Obviously with Reigns being out, that plan will not happen. Speculation at this point is whether Rock can still enter and face Lesnar at Wrestlemania. At this point in time Seth Rollins is penciled in to face Lesnar as Wrestlemania, but like always “plans can change”.

Bray Wyatt Returning With New Gimmick?

Bray Wyatt returned to action at WWE Starrcade after a two month hiatus. Wyatt parted ways with Matt Hardy back in September, and plans for him have seemingly been put aside for the last few months.

Wyatt has always been cryptic on social media, and he recently deleted all his tweets, and simply left the following.

There was also rumors that Wyatt could replace Braun Strowman at TLC if he is not cleared in time.

Don Callis Teases New Gigs

Impact Wrestling’s Executive Vice President Don Callis recently teased some new projects on his Killing The Town podcast. Callis touts his work for NJPW, Impact, ROH, ALL IN, and the Jericho Cruise, and claims that two other gigs are in the future.

Callis stated that the he’s going to leave his up-coming projects as a “surprise to everyone”. Needless to say, with the rumored All Elite Wrestling promotion in the works for 2019, that is one place he could end up.

Is Becky Lynch Cleared?

Becky Lynch is reportedly still recuperating from injuries she sustained a week prior to Survivor Series as the hands of Nia Jax.

Dave Meltzer noted in this week’s Wrestling Observer that Becky Lynch has yet to be medically cleared for nasal fracture. She has been given the green light for the concussion she sustained, but is still not 100% cleared according the report.

Lynch worked the Tribute To The Troops taping in a limited fashion according to reports from those in the attendance, and took to social media to let fans know she will indeed be at TLC to defend her Smackdown Women’s Title against Asuka and Charlotte Flair in a Triple Threat Tables, Ladders, Chairs match.

Up-Coming Names For WWE Performance Center Class

The WWE’s next Performance Center class will take place in January. Various names are expecting to report to that class, including some lesser known talent.

The current names that are expected include Trevor Lee and ACH. Other names including former TNA star Samuel Shaw, and Garza Jr. are also rumored to attend. Garza Jr. will be given another medical evaluation from the WWE, as he was previously provided a contract with the expectations of clearing a medical exam, which he was not able to pass due to injury.

Shane Strickland was also originally expected to sign a deal with the WWE, but that was nixed due to reported issues with his Lucha Underground contract that had a no compete clause.

PWTorch also reports that WWE is seeking some lesser known talent for their next class as well, before they break out on the independent scene.
