After several weeks of being off the road, Maria Kanellis is backstage at Chase Field in Phoenix ahead of tonight’s Royal Rumble.
According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Maria is backstage, but Mike Kanellis is not there.
Stories began circulating earlier this month that both Maria and Mike requested their release from the WWE. Maria took to social media to shoot down any stories of her asking for her release.
Maria did not comment on Mike Kanelis asking for his release, she simply stated the story of her asking was untrue.
The original story states that the release was asked for in December.
Earlier this week it was reported that both Mike and Maria were taken off the road, and both were not present at this past week’s Smackdown taping.
The duo was set to also have a WWE Network collection titled “Power Of Love” air on Valentine’s Day, but those plans are reportedly scrapped.
Mike and and Maria Kannelis have not been on WWE television since the 12/4 Smackdown taping where Mike competed on 205 Live.
There is no word whether Maria will compete at tonight’s event, all is known is that she is backstage.
