WWE Base Pay Salary Of NXT Talent

Every year WWE hosts up to 400 men and women to tryouts internationally. Only a small percentage of those who tryout will end up with a WWE developmental deal.

According to a report from Sports Business Journal, WWE currently utilizes one third of those signed to developmental deals for NXT television, another third for live events, and the remaining continue to train at the Performance Center as they are not ready to perform in front of audiences. Each year 10 – 15 will get called up to the main roster to perform on RAW and Smackdown.

The report states that those signed to developmental contracts are paid on average $50,000 to $150,000 a year. The average base salary for those in developmental under the NXT brand is $80,000.

In 2014, according to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter the average salary of a NXT star was $25,000. Back in 2015, WWE raised the guarantee for top NXT talent to $100,000+ according to a report from PWInsider. Once talent is brought to the main roster a bump in pay is issued.

WWE will be hosting their next tryout on April 25-27 in Orlando, FL. The next international tryout will be held in Shanghai July15-18.
