New Japan Pro Wrestling has announced Flip Gordon and El Desperado will no longer compete at the Best Of the Super Juniors tournament.

The company issued a statement which revealed El Desperado is dealing with an injury, and Flip Gordon is dealing with visa issues preventing him to enter the country.

El Desperado suffered a broken jaw at this past Tuesday’s TakaTaichi Mania 2 event at Korakuen Hall.

Flip Gordon spoke with Fightful and explained the visa issues stemmed from a miscommunication. “It was a miscommunication with the consulate” Gordon stated.

Gordon explained he originally had a visa to work New Japan’s Honor Rising tour in February. Gordon was issued a short-term visa, rather than a re-entry visa, which could have allowed him to gain entry both times.

Gordon missed the Honor Rising tour in February due to injury, and his newly sent certificate was lost in the mail, preventing him from gaining entry to the country for the Best of Super Juniors tournament.

New Japan Pro Wrestling issued the following statement.

Changes were made today to the B Block of Best of the Super Juniors 26, as El Desperado has been forced to withdraw due to injury, and Flip Gordon has encountered visa issues.

On May 7 at the TakaTaichi Mania 2 event in Korakuen Hall, Desperado suffered a broken jaw during his match with Jun Kasai. Under doctor’s orders, Desperado will be unable to compete.

Flip Gordon was not issued a proper visa in time to enter Japan, and has reluctantly been forced to withdraw from the tournament.

New Japan Pro Wrestling sincerely apologizes to fans who were looking forward to seeing Gordon and Desperado participate in Best of the Super Juniors 26. We appreciate your understanding.
