WWE Makes Changes To New NXT Contracts
WWE has made changes to talent being signed to NXT deals.
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the company is now signing talent to five-year deals with NXT, rather than the previous three-year deals.
“Talent being signed NXT contracts are getting five-year deals instead of the previous three-year deals for beginners” Meltzer states. The reasoning behind the change is deals is to lock people into a deal for a longer time before they can test the free agent market.
This change replicates main roster contracts which are now also five-years. WWE has been offering 5 year deals to talent who have contracts set to expire.
With the landscape in pro-wrestling changing with the new addition of All Elite Wrestling, WWE feels they need to retain talent more than ever.
