WWE Sent E-Mail Advertising Bischoff and Heyman In An Attempt To Boost Ratings
Earlier today a promotional e-mail was sent out to WWE subscribers in Texas advertising Paul Heyman on RAW, and Eric Bischoff on Smackdown.
The e-mail sent has been subject to a lot of controversy according to Dave Meltzer. The advertisement was not meant to be released the way it was, as Eric Bischoff was not booked for Smackdown in San Antonio as of this morning.
The messaging behind the advertisement is for fans to believe the show will be all new, due to the fact that Eric Bischoff and Paul Heyman are now in control of WWE television.
“It wasn’t supposed to be released like that and Bischoff was not even scheduled for the show.” Meltzer stated. “The idea is to push the idea that it’s all new to boost ratings after the last few weeks. But Bischoff was not even scheduled to be in San Antonio as of this morning”
“It is possible that Vince McMahon has in the last few hours or will contact Bischoff about being in San Antonio based on the advertising going out.”
Meltzer added on the Wrestling Observer forum that top people in WWE originally thought the advertisements were fake.”Posters are legit. WWE confirmed to me. Even some top people in company thought they were fakes. Internal communication at an all-time low.”
Bryan Alvarez noted on today’s episode of Wrestling Observer Live, WWE held a creative meeting Thursday that ended at 4:30 AM Friday morning.
