WWE’s highly anticipated move of SmackDown to FOX is this Friday, and a major question is the status of SmackDown alum The Rock.
According to Dave Meltzer, WWE is working on trying to secure The Rock for the debut episode, if his schedule permits.
“Regarding Dwayne Johnson on Friday, it hasn’t been announced because there is no deal in place.” Meltzer stated. “They are working on it and it’s really up to his schedule if they can pull it off. It’s not so much they want the surprise as much as it’s probably not going to be confirmed until the last minute.”
WWE will be holding their 20th Anniversary Of SmackDown event on the debut FOX episode. Many WWE Hall Of Famers and Legends will be in attendance, including Kurt Angle, Lita, Mick Foley, Booker T, Hulk Hogan, Trish Stratus, Goldberg, Jerry “The King” Lawler, Mark Henry, Ric Flair and Sting.
The Rock’s name came up as a potential surprise in the latest article from Ad Age, highlighting WWE’s key sponsors for their move to FOX.
The article states, “Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson may very well look to pop in on the 20th anniversary of “SmackDown” and promote his upcoming Disney flick, “Jungle Cruise.”
