New Trademarks For ‘The Man’ Filed

WWE has filed new trademarks for ‘The Man’ with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

WWE purchased the trademarks from Ric Flair back in February, but abandoned their active filing on July 1. Rather than file the proper paperwork to reactivate their original trademark, the company decided to file new application on July 13, 2020.

The trademarks are filed under two category classes, including entertainment services for a professional wrestler, as well as merchandise. This is standard for almost all wrestling related trademarks,

G & S: Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment

International Class 025:  Clothing, namely, tops, shirts, jackets, sweatshirts, hoodies; outerwear, namely, coats; bottoms, pants, shorts, underwear, dresses, pajamas, lingerie, clothing ties, scarves, gloves, swimwear; Halloween and masquerade costumes; footwear, namely, shoes, sneakers, slippers, flip flops, boots; headwear, namely, hats, caps; wrist bands; bandanas
Intent to Use: The applicant has a bona fide intention, and is entitled, to use the mark in commerce on or in connection with the identified goods/services.

WWE has been utilizing the name for Becky Lynch, who is currently off television due to pregnancy.
