Update – July 24, 2020

Cornell Gunter has revealed he did not contract COVID-19 while working at WWE. He says he has been in the house for the last 6-7 weeks.

For the record: I didn’t catch it from work. I’ve been in the house for the last 6-7 weeks. I most likely caught it from getting juice from Publix, I had on a mask and everything. Shit happens. Parents get your little blessings tested. Please.

WWE Performance Center Staff Member Announces COVID-19 Diagnosis

WWE Content Innovation Lab employee Cornell Gunter has tested positive for COVID-19.

He took to Twitter Thursday announcing he tested positive, and luckily is feeling better after 10+ days of dealing with symptoms related to the virus.

Prince & I have tested positive for Covid. It’s been the absolute worst for me. I’ve never felt this bad physically before. I would never wish these last 10+ days on anyone. Thankfully, Im a lot better now. Thankfully, Prince hasn’t showed any symptoms. He’s a G.

Thank you to Kaz, Jo, Larry, Free, Meen, Tre & just everyone who reached out and checked on me daily.

Thank you, Nicole for taking care of me.

I’m thankful.

Stay safe. Take care. Be mindful of others.

The WWE Content Innovation Lab is based out of the Performance Center in Orlando, FL, home to the company’s television tapings.

The team, which is led by Jeremy Borash has been instrumental in key matches over the last few months, including The Boneyard Match between AJ Styles and The Undertaker, and the Backlot Brawl between Adam Cole and Velveteen Dream.

This news comes weeks after WWE had an outbreak within the Performance Center, which caused a number of changes to its safety protocol, including mandatory testing prior to taping.

WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon recently spoke with Ad Age, and detailed WWE’s processes if a positive test does occur.

She indicated talent and crew members are able to opt out from working if they do not feel comfortable. She also spoke on safety measures taken before and after television tapings.

It’s all optional, it’s volunteer based, it’s up to them if they want to participate, we did have talent and crew members opt out, and we do support that. We do testing before all programming, it is more advanced testing, it isn’t the rapid test, that does have false positives and negative ,we want the best testing positive, we also have pandemic level cleaning at the PC every night, including fogging and special lighting, we have an application of a product from a company called Allied Sciences that creates a barrier. If you are negative for the virus, you still need a temperature check and fill out a form, if you have been a contact you are not allowed in the facility, it’s as thorough as it possibly can be.

It’s unknown if any additional WWE employees or talent have tested positive for the virus.
