WWE May Have Found A Location To Host SummerSlam

WWE has yet to announce a location for this year’s SummerSlam pay-per-view, despite the event scheduled to take place in later this month.

Last month, several reports emerged regarding WWE’s interest in hosting the event somewhere other the Performance Center in Orlando, FL. PWInsider reported internal talks suggesting the possibility of the pay-per-view emanating from either a boat or a beach.

Wrestlevotes added, WWE was looking to produce the event in an outdoor location, likely in the Northeast, with hopes of limited fans in attendance. At the time, no states were interested in hosting the event, but that may have changed.

Today, Wrestlevotes reports WWE may have found a location, as two differences source believe the event will not be happening at the Performance Center, but rather somewhere in the Northeastern part of the United States. However, the report doesn’t specify if WWE will be allowing fans to attend the event.

I’ve been told by 2 different sources over the weekend that the feeling is SummerSlam will be happening outside the PC. Seems like WWE found a location… Northeastern part of the US. No word on if fans will be in attendance or not just yet.

Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania are all states in the Northeast which could host the event.

The event was originally scheduled to take place at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts, but due to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Boston mayor Marty Walsh announced all large-scale gatherings would not be able to occur until at least September 7. WWE issued a press release last month announcing to fans that refunds would be available at point of purchase.

The company currently has two confirmed matches for the event, including WWE Champion Drew McIntyre defending against Randy Orton, and WWE RAW Tag Team Champions The Street Profits facing Angel Garza and Andrade.

WWE SummerSlam will take place on August 23, 2020 on pay-per-view and WWE Network.
