Velveteen Dream made a surprise return this past Wednesday during NXT on USA, entering the Triple Threat Match for a chance to compete at NXT Takeover: XXX for the North American Championship.

Dream has been absent from television since June, working his last match at NXT Takeover: In Your House against Adam Cole in a Backlot Brawl. Dream’s name made headlines when he was involved in a car accident at the end of the month. He was served a citation, but was not required to appear in court.

According to Fightful Select (subscription required), NXT talent were made aware of his return minutes before he performed. Dream has been subject to “significant heat” backstage for behaviour issues, which may get others fired. Some believe Velveteen Dream is getting preferential treatment.

“There has long been significant heat on Velveteen Dream for behavioral issues and what is perceived as preferential treatment in multiple situations that would have had most anyone else fired.” Fightful stated. “This was also the case with his return”

Velveteen Dream’s Accuser Speaks Following His Return To Television

While the reasoning behind his absence has not been commented on by WWE, Dream’s name was part of recent #SpeakingOut allegations.

Josh Fuller, one of Dream’s accusers tweeted the following following his return to television.

The only things really pissing me off from social media are the people claiming that it was clearly investigated when there’s no proof or statement that ever was the case. Myself or anyone else involved weren’t contacted by anybody to my knowledge

ALSO anyone claiming I’m coming forward about things for clout, I don’t understand the logic behind that whatsoever. I have literally no personal gain and everything to lose by speaking up about things.

Fuller accused Dream of sending inappropriate messages to him when he was 16-years old.

I’ve been debating releasing this information for months now, but with everyone #SpeakingOut, I finally feel comfortable in doing it. Part of me is still terrified for disclosing this.

In April, he was accused of sending an inappropriate photo to an underage fan, which he denied. WWE has not issued any comment on either allegation.
