Roman Reigns made his highly anticipated return to WWE following the SummerSlam main event, winning the WWE Universal Championship a week later at Payback, defeating Braun Strowman and “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt in a Triple Threat Match.
Plans for Reigns’ return as a heel has been in the works for quite sometime according to Dave Meltzer, who was a special guest on TSN’s “Sunday Night Main Event” radio show last week.
As noted in the most recent edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Roman Reigns asked to return to WWE as a heel. It’s unknown who made the call who pair him with Paul Heyman.
Roman Reigns’ next WWE Universal Championship match will be at Clash Of Champions later this month.
