Sting Recalls Conversation He Had With Tony Khan
Ever since Sting made his AEW debut at Winter Is Coming, fans have asked the question ‘will he wrestle?’
Sports Illustrated recently reported that AEW has plans for Sting to wrestle in some capacity, however it wasn’t noted to what extent it would be.
During an appearance on the AEW Unrestricted Podcast, Sting confirmed that he would like to do cinematic matches with AEW. He also mentioned that Tony Khan had asked if he was open to the idea, in which he said yes.
“Here recently I didn’t want it to end the way it ended [in WWE]. I was pushing to get a cinema style match with Taker. For probably a litany of different reasons it just wasn’t going to happen.”
“So, when Tony called and, you know and spoke with me, he said ‘are you interested in doing cinema style matches?’ I said, ‘Yeah, I am [laughs] I am.’ So, I thought I’d like to come back and do that and not disappear again with my tail between my legs. I’d love to be able to go out and, I don’t want to go out on top, just to go out in a positive light, you know?’
Sting is yet to get physical inside of an AEW ring, however he has lots of time to do this as he signed a multi-year deal when he made his debut earlier this month.
