Peacock Scrubbing Questionable WWE Footage

Last week saw the WWE Network begin it’s migration onto NBC’s Peacock streaming service. Prior to the move, subscribers were informed that WWE’s full content library wouldn’t be available at launch, however it now seems that Peacock is removing parts of content already uploaded to the platform.

As per PWInsider, Peacock has begun to remove controversial WWE content from their platform. It was noted that the infamous segment between John Cena and Vince McMahon at Survivor Series 2005 where Vince said the N-word has been removed.

WrestleMania 6 has also seen some changes, with Rowdy Roddy Piper vs Bad News Brown being removed due to Piper being painted half-black during the event.

Bad News Brown has been vocal about him not liking the idea. He also stated he was paid $10,000 USD and $2,000 CAD for the match, while Roddy Piper was paid $50,000 USD. You can hear his comments from a shoot interview below.

The content was still available for viewing on the old WWE Network, which will retire on April 4th. However, it seems the segments won’t be available Peacock going forward. It’s also likely that content uploaded to the platform in the coming months will also be edited for any segments deemed controversial.
