Rusev is waiting for his return to WWE television.
Rusev spoke about his absence in a new interview with TMZ Inside The Ring. He said he has been out for two or three months, and he has been ready to return for about two months.
Rusev last wrestled on television on the July 27 episode of Raw, when he took on Je’Von Evans in a singles match. After losing to Evans, Rusev quickly left the ring, leading to fan concern about what had happened.
Fightful Select reported that Rusev’s absence was related to injury. In early September, CJ Perry confirmed that report, and said Rusev has been cleared for a return to the ring.
In the new interview, Rusev said he got kicked in the head, his hands went numb, he felt better, and he finished the match. He then said he got a little sick after that, but he does not believe the sickness was related to the injury.
Rusev also spoke about resuming training, and about his return to the ring at WWE’s live events in Hawaii. He said he has been good for about two months, and he is just waiting to go back to television.
Rusev returned to WWE earlier this year after his previous run with the company and his time in AEW. His absence since July has left his television return open ended, with no date announced.
What is confirmed is the injury on Raw, the clearance reported in September, and Rusev’s own comments that he is ready and waiting. What is not confirmed is when WWE will bring him back to television, or what storyline he will return to.
