Aguayo was known for his work for multiple promotions in Mexico, including UWA, AAA, and CMLL. In the 90s, Aguayo was known for his legendary three way feud with Konnan and Cien Caras in AAA.

Aguayo made two appearances for WWE in 1997, working the Royal Rumble, and Superstars taping. Aguayo also held the short-lived WWF Intercontinental Tag-Team Championship with Gran Hamada. The titles were created in association with Tokyo-based Universal Wrestling Federation. Six months after the titles were introduced, they were abandoned due to WWE severing ties with UWF.

Aguayo was inducted in the AAA Hall Of Fame during Triplemania XX in 2012.

Aguayo’s son passed away in 2012 while competing in a match against Rey Mysterio in Mexico.

The official cause of death for Perro Aguayo Sr. has yet to be revealed.
