Riho Finished With Stardom

AEW’s first ever women’s champion Riho disappeared from the company shortly after losing the championship to Nyla Rose back in February of last year. She worked her last match for the promotion in March, during an episode of AEW Dynamite.

During her reign as AEW Women’s Champion, Riho regularly travelled back and forth between USA and Japan to work commitments she had with Stardom. After dropping the belt, AEW allowed her to work matches with Stardom, however didn’t want her to lose, according to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

The report notes, Stardom wanted Riho to sign exclusively with them, however this obviously couldn’t happen as she is signed with AEW. Stardom wanted to focus on their signed talent therefore Riho stopped working with the company after her last show on December 26.

Due to her commitments with Stardom whilst holding the belt, AEW unfortunately could never focus on Riho. She now has a chance to return to AEW and work with the promotion full time, which will be a great addition to AEW’s women’s division!
