AEW Set To Add New Hour Of Programming On Another Warnermedia Property

All Elite Wrestling recently celebrated Dynamite’s first anniversary on TNT, and now has plans to add more programming to its weekly lineup.

Earlier this year, AEW and Warnermedia announced a contract extension, agreeing to air Dynamite on TNT through 2023. The announcement also revealed AEW would launch another weekly show.

This past summer, Cody provided an update, noting that adding a third hour to its weekly programming will allow the company to showcase a different crop of talent. AEW currently features a number of independent talent on their weekly Youtube show, AEW Dark.

In a recent interview with TV Insider, Cody reiterated TNT will not add a third hour to AEW Dynamite, rather a separate hour on another Warnermedia property. Other Turner properties owned by Warnermedia include TruTV and TBS. He did not reveal which network the new show will land on.

“We know that this third hour is going to present itself soon. And I don’t mean a third hour of Dynamite.” Cody stated. “I mean a separate hour on a WarnerMedia network. We’ll be able to diversify and freshen up the content on a regular basis.”

Cody also spoke on AEW”s recruitment efforts. The company currently features a number of independent talent on their weekly Youtube show, AEW Dark.

He believes WWE as a competitor will allow them to to be be able to provide fresh content for their entire roster, regardless of where on the card they are ranked.

That’s why I think recruitment is vastly important, even in this two-hour window. The word was fresh when we started. Let’s recruit fresh. Let’s look fresh. We have to continue to be fresh. Our opponent in this space was unopposed for 20 years. We’ve already been around a year plus and always been opposed. That opposition will make us continue to pivot and provide fresh content for all the major stars, middle card stars and stars at the bottom of the card. That’s what you want A stories, B stories.
