According to PW Insider, former AEW world champion Kenny Omega is set to undergo shoulder surgery soon.

News broke shortly after Full Gear that Omega was banged up over his near 11-month title reign, and that he would evaluated today to determine if time off was needed. The report from Insider says that surgery will be required, with AEW officials hoping to have a better timeline of his status later this week.

Omega’s lingering injuries have been known to the public since 2019 after his run in NJPW, with an additional details revealing that the Cleaner had been suffering vertigo during some of his matchups and had to train his body to deal with that issue whenever it would hit him. He did manage to complete the Adam Page storyline in AEW, which saw The Hangman become the fourth world champion in AEW’s short history.

Omega does still hold the AAA Mega Championship and is set to defend it against El Hijo del Vikingo at AAA’s TripleMania Regia II event on December 4. As of this writing Omega is still scheduled for the bout but one would assume a change will be made considering how banged up he is at this time.
