Mercedes Mone will defend the AEW Women’s World Championship against Marina Shafir at Full Gear on November 14.
The match was announced on AEW Fright Night Collision on October 31. It follows the confrontation between the two on Fright Night Dynamite, where Shafir called out Mone. During that segment, Mone slapped Shafir, and Shafir offered her jaw, daring Mone to hit her harder.
Shafir won her match on Dynamite, and Mone repeatedly slapped her after the match, but Shafir did not flinch. That led to the Full Gear announcement, with Mone defending her title against Shafir in Phoenix, Arizona.
Mone has held the AEW Women’s World Championship through a series of defenses since winning it, and Shafir has been building toward a title shot through her recent work on Dynamite and Collision. Shafir is a former mixed martial artist, and her style has been presented as a direct contrast to Mone’s.
Full Gear is set for November 14 at the Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix, Arizona. The card already includes Will Ospreay defending the AEW World Championship against Kyle Fletcher, The Young Bucks defending the AEW World Tag Team Championship against Mark Davis and Jake Doyle, and The Brawling Birds defending the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship against Wrathlander.
What is confirmed is the title match, the November 14 date, and the venue. What is not confirmed is whether any other title matches will be added to Full Gear in the coming days, or how Blood and Guts on November 4 will affect the card.
