New Japan Pro-Wrestling announced that its American subsidiary, New Japan Pro-Wrestling of America Inc., will cease operations and enter liquidation.
NJPW made the announcement on November 6, 2026. The subsidiary, known as NJoA, was founded in 2019 to run the company’s business in the United States.
NJPW said it made the decision as it continues to optimize the allocation of management resources in a rapidly changing business environment. No further reason was given in the announcement for closing the subsidiary.
The announcement made clear that NJPW is not leaving North America. NJPW said its events in North America will continue, with the full backing and resources of the TV Asahi group, as part of a new chapter in the company’s ongoing global expansion.
NJoA was set up as NJPW looked to grow its presence in the United States. The subsidiary handled the company’s American operations while NJPW ran shows in the country and built its audience there. The closure ends that setup, with the parent company taking the North American business forward directly.
The announcement did not name a date for the liquidation to be completed. It also did not say how the change will affect specific events or the company’s schedule in North America beyond the confirmation that events will continue.
What is confirmed is the decision to close New Japan Pro-Wrestling of America Inc., the 2019 founding date, and that NJPW events in North America will continue under the parent company with TV Asahi group backing. What is not confirmed is the timeline for the liquidation, or whether the change will affect how NJPW runs its North American shows going forward.
