Veteran pro-wrestling broadcaster Tony Schiavone has inked a deal with All Elite Wrestling.
As first reported by Dave Meltzer, Schiavone came to terms on a deal with AEW ahead of their debut on TNT this October. Mike Johnson of PWInsider has added to the report indicating WWE had interest in Schiavone, and was trying to sign him to a deal.
“As late as Wednesday, WWE was still pursuing a Schiavone deal but we are told he he agreed to terms with AEW this past Thursday.”
Schiavone is still under contract with Major League Wrestling, and will be be working for both MLW and AEW. Tony Schiavone was previously lead announcer for WCW on TNT, and will be returning to the network when it debuts in October.
MLW owner Court Bauer issued the following statement on Twitter
