UFC on ESPN 43: Marlon Vera vs Cory Sandhagen start time, fight card, odds, prediction

Top bantamweight contenders Marlon Vera and Cory Sandhagen will square off against each other on March 25, headlining UFC Fight Night that will take place in Sab Antonio.

Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera is currently ranked 3rd in the bantamweight division while Sandhagen is ranked 5th. Vera, who has been in the UFC for almost a decade now, to end up causing fans buzz on MMA betting, hasn’t been presented the opportunity to fight for the title yet and a win against former title challenger this Saturday could set him up for a title shot soon.

Bantamweight division seems to be in a very interesting place right now. As former two-division champion Henry Cejudo has decided to come out of retirement and is scheduled to fight current champion Aljamain Sterling at UFC 288 that will take place on May 6th. Also current number one contender Merab Dvalishvili who recently defeated Petr Yan has made it clear that he will never fight his friend and teammate Aljamain Sterling. Hence, it won’t be surprising if the winner of this fight turns out to become the number one contender for the title.

Marlon Vera vs Cory Sandhagen Prediction

Marlon Vera is currently on an incredible four fight win streak and has earned fight night bonuses for all of them. Sandhagen on the other hand, after losing 2 two fights in a row made a strong comeback in his last outing as he finished Song Yadong in the fourth round.

Marlon Vera’s greatest weapon are his kicks. Afterall, who can forget that famous Frankie Edgar front kick knockout. But if Cory Sandhagen can find a way to take this kicks to the body and leg and somehow take the fight to him standing up as Vera is also a BJJ black belt, he may find certain openings at various junctures of the fight. In the end this fight certainly giantess a good stand-up war as both fighters have lethal striking game.

Prediction: Marlon Vera by KO/TKO at round 4
