FMW founder Atsushi Onita has announced the launch of FMWE, a promotion exclusively “explosion” matches.

In a press conference, the 63-year old wrestling legend revealed the first show will be held on July 4 at the Tsurumi Fruit and Vegetable Market in Yokohama City.

“The meaning of E is explosion,” Onita stated. “Because of this era, I would like you to feel the power of FMW by returning to its origin.”

Onita launched Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling in 1989. The promotion had a short working agreement with ECW. In 1997, Onita met with Vince McMahon in hopes to host an exploding deathmatch with WWE.

FMWE’s inaugural event will be available for stream in English, Japanese and Chinese.
