Who Will Be Special Guest Referee Tonight At WWE Stomping Grounds?

WWE Stomping Grounds will be held tonight at the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, WA.

Baron Corbin has yet to reveal who he will pick to be the Special Guest Referee for his match against Seth Rollins for the WWE Universal Championship.

Plenty of rumors have circulated online on who will be donning stripes tonight, let’s take a look at some of the options.

6 Potential Special Guest Referees For Seth Rollins vs. Baron Corbin

Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar has yet to cash-in his Money In The Bank contract, and him being the special guest referee could allow him to have a cash-in following the match. Paul Heyman reminded Seth Rollins this past week on RAW that Lesnar is still lurking.

Lacey Evans

Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins real life relationship is now being acknowledged on-screen, and Lacey Evans involvement could add an extra twist to her feud with ‘The Man’. Baron Corbin adding her a special guest referee could create an interesting dynamic in the match.

Kurt Angle

Kurt Angle had his last WWE match against Baron Corbin at Wrestlemania 35, and adding him to the match could bring him back in the mix as an on-screen character.

Sami Zayn

WWE is known for having underwhelming surprises, and Sami Zayn being added to the match as the special guest referee could reiterate that fact. Zayn was the special guest referee for Seth Rollins vs. Kevin Owens this past week on RAW.

Elias

Elias was originally named the special guest referee for the match, but was attacked by Seth Rollins this past week on RAW. Corbin may double down on his decision, and have Elias don stripes tonight.

Bray Wyatt

Bray Wyatt has yet to make a WWE in-ring appearance following his repackaging as host of the “Firefly Fun House”. This could bring Wyatt back in the main event scene, and quite possibly a program with Seth Rollins in the future.

The company, which is owned by billionaire Shahid Khan, and managed by his son Tony Khan is attempting to change the pro-wrestling landscape.

Although the current roster list is slim, many top stars from both the independent scene and major promotions could help bring All Elite Wrestling to a competitive status against the WWE.

Let’s take a look at 10 stars(including teams) both inside and outside the ring who could benefit from signing with All Elite Wrestling.

AJ Styles

[better-ads type=”banner” banner=”5723″ campaign=”none” count=”2″ columns=”1″ orderby=”rand” order=”ASC” align=”center” show-caption=”1″][/better-ads]

AJ Styles is one of the best wrestlers in the world, and one of the top stars in the WWE.

Since arriving in 2016, AJ Styles has managed to win the WWE Championship twice, as well as the U.S Championship.

Styles has had a great run over the years in TNA, ROH, and New Japan Pro Wrestling.

He is currently 41 years old, and a lighter schedule, which AEW is currently offering top stars could help Styles wind down his career.

AJ Styles WWE contract ends in April of 2019, and could either assist him in bargaining a better deal with the company, or join the AEW roster for a similar deal financially, and a lighter schedule.

Kota Ibushi

[better-ads type=”banner” banner=”5723″ campaign=”none” count=”2″ columns=”1″ orderby=”rand” order=”ASC” align=”center” show-caption=”1″][/better-ads]

Kota Ibushi is one of the best known freelancers in the world. Although he does currently work with New Japan Pro Wrestling, he does not have an exclusive deal with the company.

Ibushi turned down a WWE developmental deal in 2016 after working the Cruiserweight Classic.

Ibushi’s rise to fame became more predominant in 2017 when he returned to New Japan.

Ibushi suffered a minor concussion during his match at Wrestle Kingdom 13 against Will Ospreay.

Kota Ibushi teamed with Matt and Nick Jackson against Rey Fenix, Rey Mysterio and Bandito at last year’s ALL IN event. He would be a great addition to the AEW roster if he decides to sign a deal.

Mauro Ranallo

[better-ads type=”banner” banner=”5723″ campaign=”none” count=”2″ columns=”1″ orderby=”rand” order=”ASC” align=”center” show-caption=”1″][/better-ads]

Mauro Ranallo is hands down one of the best play-by-play announcers in combat sports.

Ranallo is known for his announce work with WWE, New Japan Pro Wrestling, Showtime Championship Boxing, and Pride.

Ranallo’s mic work awarded him CBS Commentator of The Year in 2018.

Ranallo is currently signed to a WWE deal until summer, and with his years of experience behind the announce table, he could be a welcoming addition to the All Elite Wrestling roster.

Joey Ryan

[better-ads type=”banner” banner=”5723″ campaign=”none” count=”2″ columns=”1″ orderby=”rand” order=”ASC” align=”center” show-caption=”1″][/better-ads]

Joey Ryan is a veteran on the independent scene, working for almost every major promotion at one point in time.

Ryan is currently dealing with pectoral tear that does require surgery. He most recently working an MLW taping, and its unknown how long he will be out of action.

Once Ryan heals, he could be an excellent addition to the AEW roster.

Shinsuke Nakamura

[better-ads type=”banner” banner=”5723″ campaign=”none” count=”2″ columns=”1″ orderby=”rand” order=”ASC” align=”center” show-caption=”1″][/better-ads]

Shinsuke Nakamura was a top star in New Japan Pro Wrestling before signing with the WWE in 2017.

Nakamura has accomplished a lot during his time in the WWE. He has been a two-time NXT Champion, 2018 Royal Rumble winner, and held the United States Championship for 156 days.

Nakamura’s contract with WWE is set to expire, and although there is interest from New Japan Pro wrestling, Nakamura does not want to move his family from Orlando, where they currently reside.

Nakamura could remain in the U.S., have a lighter schedule, and sign with AEW where he will end up being one of their top stars.

The Rascalz

[better-ads type=”banner” banner=”5723″ campaign=”none” count=”2″ columns=”1″ orderby=”rand” order=”ASC” align=”center” show-caption=”1″][/better-ads]

The independent stable on the independent scene consisting of Trey Miguel, Desmond Xavier, Zachary Wentz, and Myron Rood could be an excellent addition to the All Elite Wrestling roster.

Currently three members of the group are working with Impact Wrestling, and now have some television time under their belt. They are known for their high flying moves, and could be a welcome addition under the AEW banner.

Jim Ross

[better-ads type=”banner” banner=”5723″ campaign=”none” count=”2″ columns=”1″ orderby=”rand” order=”ASC” align=”center” show-caption=”1″][/better-ads]

Jim Ross was rumored to be involved with All Elite Wrestling since its inception last year. The former voice of the WWE, who is currently signed with the company until April could be a great addition to AEW.

Ross, who recently wrapped up a gig with New Japan Pro Wrestling could transition into All Elite Wrestling as not only an on-air personality, but also a member of the senior management team.

Ross spent many years with the WWE as Head Of Talent Relations and has a great mind for the business.

Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson

[better-ads type=”banner” banner=”5723″ campaign=”none” count=”2″ columns=”1″ orderby=”rand” order=”ASC” align=”center” show-caption=”1″][/better-ads]

Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson signed big money deals with the WWE after leaving New Japan Pro Wrestling in 2017.

The duo came in strong, and formed a promising alliance with fellow former Bullet Club member AJ Styles. The WWE eventually broke the trio apart, and The Club managed to find themselves floating in the lower mid-card for sometime.

They managed to capture the RAW Tag-Team Championship once while in the WWE.

The Club’s WWE contract is set to expire this summer, and could be a great addition to the AEW roster.

Marty Scurll

[better-ads type=”banner” banner=”5723″ campaign=”none” count=”2″ columns=”1″ orderby=”rand” order=”ASC” align=”center” show-caption=”1″][/better-ads]

Currently signed to Ring Of Honor, Marty Scurll is in line for a major push in the company. He is currently heading his own stable, Villain Enterprises alongside Brody King and PCO.

His contract with Ring Of Honor is set to expire sometime this year, and he could be a welcome addition to the All Elite Wrestling roster, considering his friends in The Elite are already there.

Will Marty Scurll end up in AEW, or will a big money offer from the WWE come his way?

Shane Strickland

[better-ads type=”banner” banner=”5723″ campaign=”none” count=”2″ columns=”1″ orderby=”rand” order=”ASC” align=”center” show-caption=”1″][/better-ads]

Shane Strickland is currently one of the most talented names not signed to a major promotion. He currently is working with Major League Wrestling until his contract situation with Lucha Underground lapses.

The WWE has shown interest in Strickland, offering him a developmental deal, but that was postponed due to issues with his Lucha Underground deal. He will have to wait until that situation clears before signing with the company.

Strickland would be a good addition to the All Elite Wrestling roster if they manage to sign him before WWE does once his contractual obligations with Lucha Underground ends.

Until then he is currently working Major League Wrestling dates.

10 Teams Who Could Be Contenders For WWE Women’s Tag-Team Championship

Which Team Will Be The First Women’s Tag-Team Champions?

After months of anticipation, the WWE  finally announced the long-awaited Women’s Tag-Team Titles. The announcement was sandwiched between two other announcements on the Christmas Eve edition of RAW.

It’s currently unknown how the WWE will crown the inaugural champions, as no extra information was given during the announcement.

The WWE has a few established tag-teams in the Women’s division, as well as other duos who could be paired up to compete the new championship.

It’s not clear if this will be a cross-brand title, or if NXT talent will also be able to compete for the championship.

[bs_smart_list_pack_start][/bs_smart_list_pack_start]

Lana and Naomi

Despite some tension the duo have had the past, the two do have a real life friendship that has been showcased on social media and Total Divas. Put on some matching outfits, and add some dance steps, and these two could be an eligible candidate to go after the gold.

Marina Shafir & Jessamyn Duke

If the WWE decides to allow NXT talent into the mix, these two could be paired together for a chance to go after the titles. The MMA Four Horsewomen members are still quite green, but if the WWE decides to do a tournament, and needs some bodies to compete, these two would be perfect candidates.

Nia Jax and Tamina

Tamina has been Nia’s right hand women since she returned from injury. It would only make sense for these two heels to go after the titles. This powerhouse duo could give the other teams a run for their money.

Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville

They did tease a breakup of this duo following Mandy Rose eliminating Sonya Deville from the Evolution Battle Royal. The team could always be managed by their former Absolution leader Paige, since her days as a GM are now over.

Riott Squad

This trio could go after the Women’s Tag-Team Titles as a Freebird style team. The men’s roster has The New Day, the female roster could have the Riott Squad.

The Bella Twins

The Bella’s still hold a lot of name value, especially with a mainstream audience. The success of this duo outside the ring could help promote the Women’s Tag-Team division. It would be a no brainer to have these two go after the titles.

Trish Stratus and Lita

These two WWE legends returned to in-ring action this past year, and could bring some nostalgia to the Women’s tag-team division. It was rumored prior to the team paired up at WWE Evolution that we would see more of them at major events.

IIconics

Peyton Royce and Billie Kay are already an established team in the WWE. This duo have been competing with each other since debuting as the Iconic Duo during their time in NXT.

Alexa Bliss and Mickie James

Since Mickie James return to WWE in 2017, she has had history with Alexa Bliss as both an enemy, as well as a tag-team partner. This duo could be an excellent heel team in the Women’s tag-team division.

Bayley and Sasha Banks

The Boss & Hug Connection have a lot of history during their time in the WWE. They were friends, they were enemies, and now they are a duo that wants to be the first WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. As long as these titles have been rumored, these two have been teasing the fact that they want to be champs.

What About The Other Member’s Of The Women’s Roster?

Some of the major players on the Women’s roster including Becky Lynch, Ronda Rousey, Charlotte and Asuka could continue to play out on storylines. Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey are rumored to be main eventing Wrestlemania, Asuka is currently the Smackdown Women’s Champion.

Could we see Carmella and her partner R-Truth try and enter as an inter-gender team?

We also have Alicia Fox, Ember Moon, Natalya, Dana Brooke, Zelina Vega, as well as several stars on the NXT roster who could be brought into the mix.

Regardless how this plays out, once they have the titles established, we should see a number of duos trying to get a chance at the gold.
