Has there ever been a more engaging form of professional wrestling than the WWE? Amazingly, we’ve had the luxury of more than four decades of superstars keeping us entertained week after week in the WWE. Yet perhaps more impressive than that, the WWE gained such a following that some punters would even bet on wrestling matches via certain platforms—many still do
Of course, this kind of activity goes hand in hand with other forms of betting in the entertainment category, for which you can click here for further reading. With this in mind, there are three wrestlers that we believe transcended their roles as WWE superstars and made the business into what it is today. So, without further ado, we’d like to recognize these legends right now.
The Rock
Depending on your age, you might know this man as Dwayne Johnson—one of the biggest actors in Hollywood. Those who are a little older will no doubt know this man primarily as The Rock. That’s right, Dwayne Johnson learned his incredible acting skills when he was a headline act for the WWE. During his time at the WWE, The Rock became known as “the most electrifying man in sports entertainment”—self-certified, that is!
He was quite sensational in terms of his charisma, his ability to engage the crowd anywhere he went, and most importantly, his talents as an athlete. For many, The Rock was the full package, and to this day, he is arguably the most entertaining WWE superstar there has ever been.
Stone Cold Steve Austin
As fate would have it, Stone Cold Steve Austin was at the height of his wrestling career at the exact same time as The Rock. In fact, these two had the kind of rivalry that could convert those who despised wrestling into die-hard fans. There was something magical between the two, both inside and outside of the ring. Stone Cold was just as entertaining as The Rock when he wanted to be.
He had great pride in his “redneck” roots, often using his love of fast food and beer to great comedic effect during major shows. Stone Cold could also stimulate the crowd like the best in the business, which is why he was always a headline act wherever the WWE went.
Triple H
To top off this list of iconic WWE superstars, it’s Triple H that deserves recognition for his contributions to the WWE. Triple H was at the very top of the roster for 10 years, and he now plays an important role in the business side of things. But without question, it’s his wrestling days that people will remember most about this guy. Whether he was spitting a mist of water in the air above his head or performing his legendary “pedigree” move to end a bout, Triple H was always a natural entertainer.
In fact, Triple H was so good and so confident in what he could do that he adopted the nickname “The Game”. This was to tell others on the roster that he was the best game in town!
