After unsuccessfully challenging for the SmackDown Women’s Championship, losing to Bayley earlier in the night, Asuka defeated Sasha Banks to win the RAW Women’s Championship during Sunday’s SummerSlam pay-per-view.
The final moments of the match saw Asuka reverse a Banks Statement, turning it into an Asuka Lock, winning via submission.
