Backstage Update On Signing Of Independent Star WALTER

As previously reported, Austrian wrestler star WALTER has signed a deal with the WWE. The 31 year old European wrestling star is slated to be a part of the WWE’s NXT UK brand.

Details regarding length of his contract are currently not known, but according to Dave Meltzer, this is not the only offer he got from a major promotion. New Japan Pro Wrestling attempted to secure WALTER to a deal, but he declined the offer stating he did not want to live in Japan or do long tours.

Mike Johnson mentioned on PWInsider Elite that the WWE and WALTER went back and fourth for sometime before ultimately agreeing to a deal. Mike also speculated that he wouldn’t be surprised to see WALTER at NXT Takeover: Blackpool sitting in the front row.

WALTER will be finalizing his independent dates in December, including shows with Fight Club: PRO, Revolution Pro Wrestling, DEFIANT Wrestling and wXw.

The WWE is no longer allowing NXT UK talent to work for Revolution Pro or DEFIANT Wrestling, but these dates were approved to allow WALTER to finish his prior commitments before joining the NXT UK roster.
