COVID-19 Outbreak Affects Multiple Promotions

Since the pandemic began, WWE, AEW and Impact have suffered massively among many other wrestling companies, and it looks like another surge could affect multiple companies in the coming days and weeks.

WWE recently announced that their WWE Champion Drew McIntyre, who was scheduled for a match against Randy Orton on tonight’s Raw, has tested positive for COVID-19.

According to Fightful Select (subscription required) another outbreak will be affecting the wrestling world. The report noted that several matches and appearances on Raw, SmackDown, AEW and IMPACT Wrestling have been scrapped as a result of the positive tests, and that WWE expected this after the holiday season.

IMPACT Wrestling tapes a couple of months worth of shows this weekend, and AEW filmed two weeks worth of shows last week, however WWE’s shows are live. This could lead to even more problems with the Royal Rumble in sight.

WrestleVotes took to Twitter to reveal that WWE will be keeping Randy Orton in tonight’s main event, competing against the College Football Championship Game. It wasn’t noted who his opponent will be.
