Britt Baker Wins First Title In AEW

Dr. Britt Baker, DMD has ended Hikaru Shida’s lengthy reign as AEW Women’s World Champion.

The final moments of the match saw Baker attempting a Lockjaw submission, but was countered with a rollup. Shida was able to execute a running knee strike, that resulted in a near fall. Baker then applied the Lockjaw, and Shida tapped out.

Following the match, she was met with a hug from Tony Schiavone who left the broadcast booth to greet her at the entrance of the stage.

ShopAEW has added an official championship t-shirt to its shop.

Britt Baker signed with AEW in 2019, but has yet to win a title since joining the promotion. She previously held the IWC Women’s Championship, Zelo Pro Women’s Championship, MFPW Girls Championship, and DDT Ironman Heavymetalweight Championship
