Wrestling World Reacts To Death Of Ashley Massaro

Former WWE star Ashley Massaro passed away this morning at age 39.

As first reported by TMZ, Massaro was transported from her home in Suffolk County, NY to a nearby hospital Thursday morning.

Law enforcement sources tell The Blast a “rescue call” was made at 5:23 AM reporting an unconscious female. CPR was administered to Massaro on her way to the hospital where she died.

Officials have yet to reveal the cause of death, but it has been classified as “non-criminal”.

“We are saddened to learn of the tragic death of former WWE Superstar Ashley Massaro.” WWE said in a statement released Thursday evening. “She performed in WWE from 2005-2008 and was beloved by her fellow Superstars and fans around the world. WWE offers its condolences to Ashley’s family and friends.”

Massaro was offered a WWE contract after winning the 2005 “WWE Diva Search”.  Massaro spent three years in the WWE, and was released in June of 2008.

In 2016, Massaro joined a class action lawsuit against WWE, litigated by Konstatine Kyros, who has been involved in several other lawsuits against the company. Massaro alleges she was sexually assaulted during a WWE tour overseas, and WWE persuaded her not to report it to authorities.
