Kevin Owens Injury Update, WWE Stars Praise Mustafa Ali, Finn Balor Illness, Ex-WWE Writer Defends RAW

Kevin Owens Update

Kevin Owens underwent double knee surgery this past October, although it wasn’t full-blown reconstructive surgery, he did have extensive damage to his left knee.

Dave Meltzer provided a brief update stating that the hope still is for Owens to be cleared by late February. The WWE may try and hold back his return to closer to Wrestlemania.

Owens has been rehabbing his knee while at home in Florida.


Mustafa Ali Receives Praise From Peers

Mustafa Ali worked a match against Daniel Bryan last night on Smackdown Live, and gained massive praise from his peers. The 205 live crew watched Ali’s match together on a TV backstage, and when Ali game back to the locker room he was greeted by not only his 205 peers, but main roster rosters such as The Usos and Jeff Hardy.

WWE agent Adam Pearce also provided praise to the 205 Live star.

Finn Balor Illness Update

Finn Balor was sent home last week from the WWE’s South American tour due to an undisclosed illness. The RAW superstar missed RAW and Mixed Match Challenge this week, and it’s hopeful he will be at TLC this Sunday night. According to John Pollock at Post Wrestling, Balor’s illness specifies he needs clearance to have physical contact. Whether this is something contagious is unknown, but at this point in time he is still advertised for this Sunday’s pay-per-view


Ex-WWE Writer Sticks Up For RAW

Former WWE writer Jimmy Jacobs took to social media to defend Monday Night RAW after Wresting Observer journalist Bryan Alvarez commented on how the programs ratings were “embarrassing”

Jacobs commented on how writing a 3 hour wrestling show weekly is difficult, and how it’s easy to point out problems, rather than give solutions.

WWE Files Trademark For Possible New Characters

WWE filed three new trademarks on July 15, 2019.

As first reported by PWInsider, WWE filed trademarks for “Smackville”, “The O.C”, and “Shorty G”.

The only confirmed usage is the Smackville name, which is an up-coming WWE Network special on July 27, 2019.

Although not confirmed, several are speculating The O.C could stand for “Original Club”, in reference to Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson, and AJ Styles.

Former Shane Strickland To Make 205 Live Debut This Tuesday

Isiah “Swerve” Scott, fka Shane Strickland is set to make his 205 Live debut this Tuesday against Drew Gulak.

Scott signed with WWE earlier this year following a battle with Lucha Underground to be released from his contract. He had a successful run with MLW, as well as the independent scene.

Since debuting with NXT, he underwent a name change from Shane Strickland to Isiah “Swerve” Scott.

MJF Signs Multi-Year Deal With All Elite Wrestling

MJF has extended his current contract with All Elite Wrestling, converting it into a multi-year deal.

The company posted a video today on social media which shows MJF signing the new deal. MJF was initially signed to a short-team deal with the company in January.

MJF also has a contract with Major League Wrestling, where he debuted in 2017. His MLW contract allows him to work outside the company.
