Back in 2017 WWE superstar Kevin Owens walked into Fastlane as the Universal champion, with only one more opponent in his way prior to WrestleMania 33. That man…WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg. The match lasted less than 10 seconds as a distraction by Chris Jericho led to Goldberg becoming the new champion, and ending K.O.’s first main event reign.

In a new interview with Metro UK Owens reveals that he would actually love to work another matchup against the master of the Jackhammer, but only if there was a good story involved, and Goldberg “came to work.”

I’d love to work with him again if he was here to work. I’m not saying this is his fault, but he’s not – his career has never been about long matches or anything like that. ‘To me, I don’t see much positive out of wrestling him for two minutes, or 20 seconds or 30 seconds or whatever, you know what I mean? I’d love to work with him again if you got to do a story beyond – all we did was, what, two weeks, maybe three weeks? ‘If we got to do some cool stuff, and some cool promos, exchange back and forth, and then have a quality match, that’d be great. But that’s just not usually what he’s here for.

When the conversation of Goldberg’s short matches being the trait that got him over in WCW all those years ago, Owens admitted that he was never really into the squash style, but understands why it became so popular with the fans.

Look, it works. I’m not saying anything against that, it’s just not what I’m interested in. As a fan, I’ve never been interested in that stuff. ‘Even when he was in WCW, I didn’t really like it. That’s just not what I look for in my wrestling.

Owens has a chance to begin his second reign as Universal champion this coming Sunday, when he battles Roman Reigns at TLC. However, Goldberg did state on an episode of WWE The Bump that Reigns “Is Next.” Will Owens and Goldberg potentially cross paths once again?
