HBO Show To Discuss WWE’s Use Of “Independent Contractors”

WWE classifies their wrestlers as “independent contractors”, and not employees of the company. This has been a hot topic for many years, and now it’s about to go mainstream.

According to Fightful Select, HBO’s “Last Week Tonight With John Oliver” is scheduled to discuss this topic on tonight’s episode.

The show previously spoke on WWE’s deal with Saudi Arabia, and it wasn’t positive for the company from a public relations standpoint.

WWE talent do no get health insurance, pensions, as well as other benefits full-time employees receive. Despite being called “independent contractors”, WWE superstars cannot taking bookings, or make appearances outside the WWE, without consent from the company.
