Wrestlemania 36 may be in jeopardy, as the City of Tampa will be meeting on Thursday to discuss the possibility of canceling or postponing major events in the city due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Ryan Bass of CBS Tampa reports that City of Tampa mayor Jane Castor will be meeting with local officials.

“@CityofTampa and @JaneCastor will meet on Thursday to discuss canceling or postponing “major” events due to #Coronavirus. This weekend’s River O’Green fest isn’t likely to be canceled.”

Wrestlemania 36 is one of the biggest events coming to the city this year, and is expected to have a major economic impact for the region.

Rob Higgins, executive director of the Tampa Bay Sports Commission anticipated Wrestlemania will generate about 50,000 hotel bookings.

Wrestlemania 35 generated $165.4 million in revenue New York/New Jersey region.

WWE issued a press release last week indicating they had no plans to cancel any future events, but an order from the city would overrule that decision.
