The Wrestling Observer Newsletter has reported some additional details on AEW superstar Jon “Brodie Lee” Huber, who tragically passed away two weeks ago due to a non-COVID related lung issue.

Reports are that Huber was taken to a hospital in Tampa and later the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, where he was tested non-stop for the virus, as doctors expected that to be the reason that his lungs essentially “stopped working.” However, he tested negative on each of them, including antibody tests indicating that he never contracted the virus while he was alive. AEW was also administering tests to Huber (and all of their talent) on a regular basis ahead of tapings from Daily’s Place.

While the odds were always looking pretty grim for Huber, many believed that the Mayo Clinic, which is said to be a top-notch facility, would be his best bet for survival. Huber was in desperate need for a lung transplant, but it was difficult to find one for a man his size. Reports are that if he did receive a proper transplant he would have had to live the rest of his life heavily immunocompromised and take a lot of anti-rejection drugs.

His widow, Amanda Huber, informed everyone that Jon worked with in AEW on November 7th, asking them to keep it quiet as they wanted to keep the family matter quiet, and especially did not want rumors to spread.
