Two NJPW Wrestlers Pulled Due To COVID-19 Concerns

New Japan Pro-Wrestling has pulled two talents from this weekend’s Sengoku Lord event due to precautions related to COVID-19.

The event, which drew 2200 fans at the Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium was headlined by IWGP Champion EVIL vs. Himoru Takahashi.

The company issued a statement, indicating Tomakai Honma and Yota Tsuji took part in filming of another television show, and a cast member was diagnosed with COVID-19.

They note that neither wrestler was in close contact with the infected person, but will be pulled from this weekend’s event as a precaution.

The following statement was issued.

On July 17, Tomoaki Honma and Yota Tsuji recorded a television show with another cast member who tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday, July 24.

Both are in good health and were not in close contact with the infected party. They will not be appearing on Sengoku Lord out of an abundance of caution.

We apologize to fans who were looking forward to seeing Tsuji and Honma wrestle, and appreciate your understanding. The following change has been made to tonight’s card:

2nd Match: Togi Makabe, Tomoaki Honma, Satoshi Kojima, & Ryusuke Taguchi vs. Tomohiro Ishii, Toru Yano, Yota Tsuji, & Gabriel Kidd
