New Japan Pro Wrestling dealt with delays this evening for their Fighting Spirit Unleashed event at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City.

The New York State Athletic Commission requires an ambulance and EMT present, which didn’t arrive at the scheduled time. The original thought was the ambulance was stuck in traffic, but according to PWInsider, someone called the ambulance company this morning and indicated the show was cancelled.

The Hammerstein Ballroom uses the same ambulance company for all events at the venue, and when they were informed the event was cancelled, they made alternate plans, and could not show up to tonight’s event.

New Japan had to scramble to get a FDNY ambulance to come to the event, but the New York State Athletic Commission did not agree, and stated they require EMT’s with the ambulance present at the venue.

At approximately 8:14 pm ET, an ambulance arrived, and the show was allowed to begin.

The New York State Athletic Commission also gave strict rules for tonight’s event. No chair shots, no tables, no blood, no whipping into the guard rails, and no fighting in the crowd.

EVOLVE owner and NXT advisor Gabe Sapolosky weighed in on tonight’s events, and states he hopes whoever is responsible for holding up tonight’s show and cancelling the ambulance needs to be found.
