New Japan Pro Wrestling has unveiled a new championship.
During the opening night of the 2021 New Japan Cup USA, an announcement was made the winner would not only receive a match for the IWGP United States Championship, but also be crowned the NJPW STRONG Openweight Champion.
New Japan Cup USA First Round Matches:
- Clark Connors vs. Lio Rush
- Brody King vs. Chris Dickinson
- Ren Narita vs. Tom Lawlor
- Hikuleo vs. Fred Rosser
The New Japan Cup tournament runs from April 2 – April 23.
The New Japan Cup USA winner will not be a contender.
