Prior to the 2020 Royal Rumble, Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman was interrupted by 24/7 Champion R-Truth, who declared himself an entrant in this year’s match.

In an interview with Alex McCarthy of talkSport, R-Truth revealed the segment was improvised. Prior to going to the ring, Paul Heyman approached Truth in the Gorilla Position, and gave him a challenge, make Brock Lesnar laugh. Truth was reluctant in doing so, as Lesnar was not told about this ahead of time.

“I remember Heyman called me to the Gorilla, before we went out, this was like 20 minutes before we had to go out” Truth stated.  “I had no promo. They didn’t give me nothing, and I was like “what is the promo, what am I supposed to say?’.”

Paul is like well, ‘we have a bet going on, and we don’t want Brock to know what you’re going to say. We want you to make Brock laugh.’ I said huh? ‘Truth you’re a funny guy, and we have a bet, you can’t make Brock laugh. I think you can, but they think you can’t. Just wing it, we’re going to wing it out there.’ I said Paul, the only thing you need to say is you’re going to throw him over the top rope. I think we should tell Brock what we’re going to say! It’s Brock Lesnar, I don’t want him to be surprised

Truth recalls how how it was for him not to start laughing himself during the segment. “I did all I could from holding myself from laughing. When I saw Brock bust out laughing, because Paul’s facial expression look, the magic just went on! The major just kept going on.”

When the segment was over, Brock Lesnar approached R-Truth backstage, impressed with the work they did together, Lesnar said he wanted to work with him in the future.

After that segment we were in the back, and Brock was laughing and he said ‘Bro we got to do something together. There is something there’
