WWE is very serious about going head to head with AEW on a weekly basis.

In the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it’s noted that NXT is tentatively set to air live on FS1 Wednesday night’s from 8-10pm. This would essentially go head to head with All Elite Wrestling’s weekly show on TNT. While nothing is official until an announcement, the new live show was largely agreed to in late June, or early July. The deal is far enough along that FOX has told some of its affiliates already.

The working idea is for a live two hour show with the feeling that a taped show will not work to head-off AEW.” Meltzer states “Where WWE feels they have the edge is they have an endless supply of main roster talent they can shuffle in whenever they want them.”

If the move is finalized, it’s unknown what will happen to WWE’s current weekly show on the WWE Network, as well as their regularly scheduled tapings at Full Sail University.

All Elite Wrestling begins their weekly show on TNT on October 2, 2019. It’s unknown when WWE will begin airing NXT on FS1 if the deal is finalized.
