Vince McMahon Is More Interested In Characters

Vince McMahon reportedly isn’t looking for ‘wrestlers’ in the next set of call-ups.

Upon WWE’s return to touring, the company could be looking to call-up several NXT Superstars to fill the spots of the dozens of wrestlers released during the pandemic.

Just one day after the latest set of releases earlier this month, reports emerged that several WWE higher-ups had visited the Performance Center to scout potential NXT call-ups.

According to Ringside News, Vince McMahon is ‘looking for personalities’ rather than wrestlers. It was noted that he asks ‘if the character is very real, or if the character is outlandish, doesn’t matter,’ and the Superstars character.

WWE recently called up NXT Superstar Eric Bugenhagen (Ric Boogs) to SmackDown, where he quickly found an ally in Shinsuke Nakamura, playing him to the ring as well as helping him in matches. Whilst WWE hasn’t yet announced any more NXT call-ups, this could have been an idea from Vince McMahon.
