Kevin Owens Met Vince McMahon Regarding Safety Measures

In recent weeks, WWE implemented a new mandatory mask policy, which must be adhered to while at the Performance Center during television tapings.

Earlier this month, Fightful Select (subscription required) provided details on how this rule came into place, indicating a returning RAW star met with Vince McMahon regarding the lack social distancing and mask utilization backstage.

In a new report from Pat Laparde of French-language podcast Les anti-pods de la Lutte (via POST Wrestling), Kevin Owens raised concerns during the WWE tapings on 7/3.

Kevin Owens reportedly met with Vince McMahon, stating he was not comfortable with the lack of masks and social distancing. He then informed McMahon he was heading home. This led to McMahon asking Owens what he wanted to do to remedy the situation.

Vince McMahon reportedly asked Owens if implementing a mask policy with fines would work. Owens responded that he was fined after swearing on SmackDown, and never did it again.

Kevin Owens decided to stay for the tapings once he saw people wearing masks and adhering to social distance guidelines.

Earlier this month, WWE issued an internal memo reminding talent to wear masks inside the Performance Center.

Fightful Select obtained a copy of the memo, which can be read below.

As a reminder, wearing masks, sanitizing and social distancing will be required at the Performance Center this week and going forward. You’ll be required to wear a mask upon entering and we ask that you adhere to these requirements in order to minimize risks.

WWE’s current mask policy carries a fine of $500 for the first offence, and $1000 for the second offence. This rule does not apply to talents performing on camera
