WWE Working On John Cena Return

WWE is reportedly working on having John Cena return to the company this summer.

According to Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline, discussions are underway to have John Cena return at WWE’s first SmackDown with fans on July 16

Regarding talk of John Cena being on the first WWE show back with fans on 7/16, I was told that this is still being discussed.

Meltzer mentioned the discussions briefly during the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio.

“They’re in talks with Cena to appear on that show, not a done deal”

John Cena has spent the majority of the pandemic working on film and television projects, his last WWE match was The Firefly Funhouse Match against Bray Wyatt at Wrestlemania 36.

In a recent interview with Den of Geek, Cena spoke on the Firefly Funhouse Match, and his hope to return to WWE.

“I really, really want to get back to WWE. I really want audiences to get back to WWE. Heck I’m with everybody I think around the world saying I just want the world to get back to normal, but these are interesting times and I have a lot of interesting opportunities at my feet, and I really do appreciate the WWE universe understanding that after so many years of…”

WWE is planning on a 25-city tour beginning July 16 with Friday Night SmackDown in Houston, TX. It’s for certain the company will try and pull out all the stops for their first show with fans present.
