Ring Of Honor is resurrecting the Pure Championship.

The company announced today a tournament to crown a new Pure Champion will be held on 4/10 and 4/11 during “Pure Excellence” events in Columbus, OH and Pittsburgh, PA.

The Pure Championship debuted in 2004. Matches held for the title are sanctioned under “Pure Rules.

ROH Pure Championship Wrestling Rules

  • Each wrestler has three rope breaks to stop submissions and pinfalls during the match. After a wrestler has used all their rope breaks, submission and pin attempts under the ropes by the opponent are valid.
  • There are no closed-fist punches to the face allowed in a Pure match. If you perform one, you will receive a warning. Three closed-fist punches result in a DQ.
  • Referee gives a 20-count when a wrestler is outside the ring.
  • Pure Championship can change hands on a DQ or countout.

The Pure Championship has been held by Samoa Joe, Jay Lethal, and AJ Styles.
