Contracts of several major Ring Of Honor stars expired at the end of 2019, including Bandido.
Ring Of Honor announced today that Bandido has agreed to terms on a new contract with the company.
Bandido originally signed a one year contract with Ring of Honor at the end of 2018. At the time WWE also had interest, but Bandido opted to sign with ROH.
Dave Meltzer noted in the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that top ROH stars have been offered a lot more money to be exclusive to the company, but also offered ‘decent money’ for non-exclusive deals.
There was a strategy change this year. Before, anyone over $40,000 a year would have to sign exclusive deals, meaning you could only work for ROH in the U.S. and Ontario, but on free dates could work outside those boundaries and get extra money. This year, the top guys were offered a lot more than in the past for exclusives, but a lot of guys were offered what I was called decent money for non-exclusives, meaning they can work indies in the U.S. and Ontario when not booked by ROH. The idea is to keep money in the budget if another guy like Dragon Lee is available that isn’t expected on the free agent market
