Marty Scurll recently signed the most lucrative deal with Ring Of Honor history.

Prior to him finalizing a new deal with the company, AEW had plans in place to sign Scurll and have him head the Dark Order faction.

According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Scurll was originally planned to appear at the 12/18 AEW Dynamite episode, revealing that he was the leader of the faction.

Scurll had been the first choice to be the leader of the Dark Order and AEW for the 12/18 show in Corpus Christi with the heavily criticized beatdown, there was an idea for the show to end with the Scurll reveal, until ROH made Scurll such a great offer to stay.

Instead, ROH continued to negotiate with Scurll and made him a great offer to stay. Scurll is making WWE main-roster equivalent money, only having to work 40+ days, and is working in a booker position with the company.

Scurll is also able to accept bookings outside of ROH, including New Japan Pro-Wrestling and NWA. He is reportedly working to bridge the gap with outside promotions, working as a liaison for the company.

ROH is trying to build a working relationship with All Elite Wrestling.

Scurll’s role when it comes to office work will be to work as a liaison to New Japan, the NWA and other organizations including AEW, which ROH will try and get a working relationship with.

Marty Scurll has been announced to appear at the 1/26 NWA Powerrr television taping in Atlanta, Georgia.
