Canadian pro-wrestler Steve Gillespie has passed away at age 56.

Best known for his time in Western Canada, working for Stampede Wrestling in the late 80s, Gillespie eventually went to Japan, working for FMW under the name Dr. Hannibal.

In the 90s Gillespie worked for WWE as enhancement talent, having matches against Shawn Michaels, Papa Shango, Razor Ramon, and Kamala.

In 1993, Gillespie worked his last match for RCW in Calgary under his Dr. Hannibal name.

More recently, Gillespie was a promoter, working alongside Teddy Hart in the ‘Hart Legacy Wrestling’ promotion. He also was a trainer for Calgary based Pro Wrestling Fitness Academy.

The cause of death has not been revealed.
