Wednesday afternoon, Triple H held a media conference call ahead of this week’s NXT Takeover: XXX. He was joined by a number of journalists, who fielded questions to the WWE Executive Vice President of Global Talent Strategy and Development.
Pat McAfee In WWE
Triple H says Pat McAfee working as a WWE talent is not a one off, and his appearance at this weekend’s Takeover event will bring press and fresh eyeballs to the product. He feels Adam Cole is the perfect person for him to have his first match with, and that McAfee is “athletically gifted” and he has no issues putting him in a marquee spot on the event.
Decision For NXT To Remain At Full Sail University
The decision to keep NXT programming at Full Sail Live has to do with the relationship WWE has with Full Sail University. Triple H stated the brand will be staying at the venue for the foreseeable future, but “you can never say never”. He also mentioned WWE has “enough on their hands” between RAW, SmackDown and pay-per-view events at the WWE ThunderDome.
Velveteen Dream Investigation
When asked about the Velevteen Dream investigation, Triple H reiterated, WWE takes all allegations seriously, but have moved on, as they “didn’t find anything there”. He also states that if there is something else to look into, they will take those steps, but would rather speak on other topics.
Obviously we take all of these things very seriously, allegations, misconduct, of any nature. I’ll stand by what I said on CBS, we looked into it, we didn’t find anything there, in a manner of what we were looking for, and we’ve moved on, but it doesn’t change the fact that we take it seriously, if there is something else there, we’ll look into it, that goes across the board for anybody, but we’ve already talked about it, so I’d rather just move on to other topics
Renee Young Leaving WWE
He was asked about Renee Young’s status within the company, following reports she is leaving. Triple H did not want to speak on specifics, indicating that’s for her to speak on, but did praise Young on the tremendous work she has done for the company for the last 8 years.
Update On WWE Fans Returning To Events
Triple H was asked if WWE has been looking into bringing fans back at smaller venues which NXT used to regularly produce live events. Triple spoke on the amount of research is being put into bringing fans back. He notes the conversation is constant, and they have looked into “every conceivable avenue”
SummerSlam On A Boat
Triple H confirmed reports that internal talks happened about SummerSlam emanating from a boat. He noted that every option was looked into, but noted it there would have not been fans on the boat if they went that route.
Lars Sullivan NXT Status
He was asked about Lars Sullivan’s status within the company, referencing new workout videos he has posted online. Triple H says he does not have an update, and wasn’t aware that he was posting videos.
