USA Network Seeking ‘More Adult Content’

This past week’s episode of WWE Monday Night Raw drew the lowest television viewership in the show’s long history, including poor ratings per hour and in the key demographics.

According to Alex McCarthy of TalkSport, USA is pushing WWE to create more adult content for the future, as they are “furious” with the red-brand’s steady decline in viewership since they signed their new deal with the network.

USA Network are furious,” the source said. “They want more adult content. Not sexy adult, but dark and violent adult.”

Sources within WWE have told the publication that they hope next month’s Royal Rumble will serve as a reset, and that those in power backstage are aware of the issues with programming.

Throughout 2020 WWE has attempted several ideas to change up Raw’s format, including introducing the Raw Underground segment, the RETRIBUTION faction, and Raw DARK. However, despite some of those concepts being innovative, they have not been bringing in the new viewers WWE had hoped.
